Based in Portland, working globally
Remote-first for six years. I partner with founders, PMs, and engineers across San Francisco, Berlin, Tokyo, and NYC — usually on products where clarity is the competitive edge.
I'm Mira Solen — a product designer with 8 years shipping multiplayer tools, knowledge systems, and design platforms. Ex-Figma and Notion. I turn dense workflows into interfaces people actually enjoy living in.
I grew up between architecture studios and rainy Portland coffee shops. That mix stuck — I design software like spaces: legible structure, generous light, and just enough surprise.

“Make the complicated feel inevitable.”
My process blends rapid prototyping, workflow ethnography, and crisp visual systems. I write decision logs, run weekly critique, and ship with engineers in the room — not after the room has emptied.
Accessibility as a quality bar, not a phase. Motion that explains, not distracts. Documentation that future teams can actually use. And product narratives that respect users' attention as a scarce resource.
Ceramic throwing on Sundays, long-form film photography, and hosting a monthly critique circle called Glass Box for mid-career designers in the PNW.
Four engagements where design was a growth lever — not a coat of paint. Metrics below are from launch windows and 6–12 month follow-ups.
Redesigned real-time presence, cursors, and facilitation modes for workshops of 50+ people — reducing cognitive noise while making collaboration feel alive.
Led the information architecture and interaction model for relational databases, templates, and linked views that became foundational to Notion's team plans.
0→1 product design for an AI-native research OS used by strategy teams. Designed source grounding UI, citation trails, and multi-agent review flows.
Rebuilt intake-to-discharge tooling for outpatient clinics. Focused on glanceable status, role-based views, and error-resistant forms for busy staff.
From high-growth product orgs to lean 0→1 teams — always close to the problem and the code.
Partner with product orgs on design strategy, AI product patterns, and design system maturity. Current clients span research tooling, health ops, and vertical SaaS.
Owned end-to-end design for multiplayer facilitation, accessibility upgrades, and enterprise admin controls used by millions of workshop participants monthly.
Core designer on relational databases, linked views, and the template gallery — work that underpinned Notion's expansion into team knowledge systems.
Designed review cycles, goal cascades, and manager dashboards for a fast-scaling HR platform.
Comfortable from whiteboard to production. Strongest where product strategy, interaction design, and systems meet.
End-to-end ownership of complex workflows, IA, and multiplayer patterns.
Brand-aligned product UI and scalable systems teams can actually maintain.
Fluent with engineers, PMs, researchers, and exec stakeholders.
A few notes from PMs, engineers, and founders who sat in the trenches with me.
“Mira has a rare gift: she makes the hardest workflow feel obvious. Presence 2.0 only shipped on time because she held the vision and the details at once.”
“Working with Mira on databases was a masterclass in product sense. She anticipated edge cases our eng team hadn't named yet — and still protected the craft.”
“Investors kept asking who designed Atlas. Mira's product narrative and prototype quality were a material part of our Series B story.”
Available for select product design retainers, design partner roles, and 0→1 engagements. Typical response within 2 business days.
Prefer a short brief over a long deck. Share the problem space, timeline, and how design can unlock value — I'll take it from there.
